Scrutiny of nominations for Corporation polls completed

CHENNAI:
The scrutiny of nominations filed for the Chennai Corporation Council elections was completed on Thursday.
Electoral registration officials rejected 25 applications of the total of 1,935 nominations received. One nomination is pending approval. The officials said that 1,908 nominations have been accepted for the polls.
However, the number of candidates will decrease by September 30, which is the last day for withdrawal of names.
The confusion among Congress candidates continued to prevail on Thursday.
Several party members had registered despite the party not releasing the official list.
Once the list comes out, other nominees are expected to withdraw.
