Power shutdown

Chennai: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar and Chetpet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday for maintenance work. Supply would be resumed if the work was completed earlier, said a release from Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

Blood donation camp

Hindu Mission Hospital recently organised a blood donation camp at Shree Jugraj Medical Centre at Saidapet. Two doctors attended the camp. A total of 65 donors participated in the camp, which was held between 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Programme for children

Jayavidya Learning Centre in association with various educational institutions will conduct child development programmes for children in the age group of 3-4, 5-10 and 11-15 years from October 2 (Vijayadasami Day) at number 8, Dhanalakshmi Colony Main Road, Vadapalani. The programme would include slokas, chess, drawing and painting, arts, crafts, yoga, abacus, English, handwriting, memory techniques and speed math among other classes. Brahmotsavam

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Information Centre is conducting a 10-day Srivari Brahmotsavam on September 29 at 9 p.m. when the deity will be taken in procession around Ramanujam Street, Dhandapani Street, Soundararajan Street and Venkatnarayana Road.

Children's film festival

The Rotaract Club of S.R.M. Arts and Science College, in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Akash is organising an international children's film festival from October 5 to 7 at the South Indian Film Chamber Theatre. Music concert

Limited free passes are available for the concert "The Magic Box: dialogues between music and painting in Italy, from Romanticism to the 20th Century" at the Museum Theatre on Saturday. The concert featuring the Rome String Quartet, a group of 4 classical musicians from Italy, has been organised by the Italian Embassy Cultural Institute. A press release issued by Ashok Leyland, one of the sponsors of the concert, said those interested in getting free passes could contact phone number 25341296.

Technical seminar

The Department of Computer Applications, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam, recently organised a national-level technical symposium titled `Systematics 06'. D.K. Hema Hari of Covansys India Limited was the chief guest. Students presented papers and participated in a quiz programme.

ENT camp

Chitras ENT will conduct a free ENT screening camp on October 8 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The camp will cover sinus, ear and voice problems apart from neck and voice box cancer screening.
