VILLUPURAM: The Tamil Nadu Government should immediately pass legislation to go ahead with increasing the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam. It need not wait for the local body elections to get over, said S. Ramadoss, founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi. In a press conference held at Thailapuram near here on Thursday, Dr. Ramadoss said since the Supreme Court had given a clear verdict on February 27, 2006 allowing Tamil Nadu to raise the water level from 136 ft to 142 ft, the issue did not brook any delay. The apex court had also turned down the request of the Kerala Government to reconsider its verdict.
