CBI arguments in Telgi case completed

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has completed its final arguments in a case where Abdul Kareem Telgi and his associates have been charged cheating the State Government and a company of Rs. 42.75 lakh.

CBI Senior Public Prosecutor P. Govindan submitted his arguments before the Special Court Judge, Vishwanath V. Angadi on Wednesday. The case is one of the 28 cases being investigated by the CBI in which Telgi has been named the accused. Sami Lab's, a company from Peenya, had filed the complaint. Continuing with the arguments done on September 23, Mr. Govindan submitted rulings of High Court and Supreme Court to substantiate the contention that Telgi, Bhadrudddin, Irfan Ahmed, Wazir Ahmed Salik and Pradeep Kumar had conspired to cheat the State of the revenue. Mr. Govindan had said that there was circumstantial evidence to show the method by which Abdul Kareem Telgi and his associates approached companies, sold them the fake stamp papers and distributed the sale proceeds among themselves.
