Isolated rain in T.N.

CHENNAI: A depression which formed over Central Bay on Thursday evening moved northwestwards and lies centred at 0830 hrs IST of 29th September over northwest and adjoining west Central Bay about 125 km east southeast of Gopalpur. It is likely to move west northwestwards and cross Orissa coast close to Gopalpur by Friday.

Rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Rayalaseema, Kerala and interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana and Lakshadweep. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres: Visakhapatnam 12, Tirukattupalli (Thanjavur dt) and Pullambadi (Thiruchirapalli dt) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:-

Kumbakonam (Thanjavur dt) and Omalur (Salem dt) 5 each , Adiramapattinam, Tiruvaiyaru (Thanjavur dt), Mangalapuram (Namakkal dt) and Sankaridurg (Salem dt) 4 each.

Forecast (valid until Sunday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, at many places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and at few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Karnataka.

Forecast for Chennai City & Neighbourhood: (Valid until Sunday morning): Partly cloudy.
