HYDERABAD: The stage is set for the formal inauguration of the Chief Minister's Cup State-level sports meet for under-19 boys and girls, costing about Rs.2.5 crores, with a three-hour opening ceremony scheduled on Saturday morning at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here. The actual competitions begin on Sunday.
About 3000 school students will participate in the opening programme to be graced by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
HHA probables
Hyderabad Hockey Association named the probables for the senior National championship to be held in Punjab from October 20 from the players attending the on-going coaching camp at Begumpet Police Stadium here.

AP sub-junior tennis

Vipul slams century
G. Vipul's unbeaten 110 (10x4) helped Arshad Ayub CA record a 201-run win over the visiting Imtiaz Ahmed CA (Bangalore) in an under-13 practice match here.
The scores: Arshad Ayub CA 297 for five in 40 overs (G. Vipul 110 not out, Nitesh 44, Ali 30, Saif 60 not out) bt Imtiaz Ahmed CA (Bangalore) 96.
APCA official dead
K. Krishna, former Secretary of the AP Cycling Association and a senior official of the Cycling Federation of India, passed away here on Friday after prolonged illness. He was 68 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Krishna was also a qualified coach in kho kho and a national referee in kabaddi.
