Mysore: Despite a fighting century by Western Australia's middle-order batsman Adam Voges (108, 102b, 11x4, 3x6), Karnataka won the second one-day match, played here on Friday, by 43 runs. Bharath Chipli's stroke-filled century (123, 14x4, 1x6) enabled Karnataka post 298 for three in the allotted 50 overs. Opting to bat on a placid wicket, Karnataka openers Gaurav Dhiman (36) and skipper Barrington Rowland (60) provided the team a solid start adding 79 runs. Western Australia chasing 299 for victory started disastrously losing skipper Justin Langer to the first ball of its innings when medium-pacer N.C. Aiyappa trapped him leg-before. Western Australia was then reduced to 58 for three and lost two more quick wickets and was in deep trouble at 84 for five. But, a stubborn sixth wicket partnership of 90 runs between Voges and Peter Worthington (33) provided a glimmer of hope. However, after the fall of Worthington, who was caught behind off medium-pacer Md. Arif, Western Australia lost wickets at regular intervals and was all out for 255 in 46 overs. The scores: Karnataka 298 for three in 50 overs (Bharath Chipli 123, Barrington Rowland 60, Deepak Chowgle 42 not out) bt Western Australia 255 in 46 overs (Adam Voges 108).
