Fifth furniture fair begins

NEW DELHI: The fifth edition of the National Furniture Fair, showcasing a wide array of traditional and modern furniture, opened at Pragati Maidan here on Friday.

One of the popular annual events of India Trade Promotion Organisation, the 10-day fair provides a unique opportunity for purchase of all kinds of quality furniture. Most of the companies are offering special discounts on their products. The display covers all kinds of home and office furniture.

Focus on women's health problems

NEW DELHI: The weeklong MTNL Perfect Health Mela 2006 beginning at Sheikh Sarai Park here on October 10 will focus on problems faced by women.

Announcing this here, Mela president K.K. Aggarwal said October 13 would be observed as Women's Day. Over 18 nursing schools and colleges will create awareness about prevention of diseases in women through songs, dances and skits.

On October 16, a special competition will be organised with Laxman Public School for children with special needs.

Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan planned

NEW DELHI: Manavata Abhiyan, a socio-cultural organisation, in association with the All-India Tax Advocate Forum will organise the ninth Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan at the DDA Ground in Malviya Nagar here on October 1, on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.

A number of acclaimed poets in both Hindi and Urdu from across the country are expected to attend.

Magazine in five languages launched

NEW DELHI: Planman Media launched a weekly magazine in five languages here on Thursday. Titled "The Sunday Indian", the magazine is available in English, Hindi, Bangla, Tamil and Gujarati.

The launch took place in the presence of several politicians including Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, BJP leader Shahnawaz Husain and cricketer Kirti Azad.

Navaratri festival

NEW DELHI: Vasundhara Enclave Sarveswara Samaj in Vasundhara Enclave here is celebrating the nine-day Navaratri festival in a grand manner.

The highlights of the celebrations are Saraswati Pooja on Sunday and Vijayadasami Pooja on October 2.

There is also recitation of Devi Mahatmayem by women every day during the festival.

Satsangam celebrations

NEW DELHI: Sree Vanamali Sahasranama Satsangam in Vasant Kunj here, having completed ten years of continuous weekly Parayanam, is celebrating its decennial anniversary on October 1 and 2.

The Satsangam, with a large membership from different sections of society, is engaged in propagating Vedic culture, Vedic practices and revival of Indian ethos, according to its convenor D.L. Narasimhan.
