KOCHI. Special prayers will be held at St. Mary's Forane Church at Tripunitura from October 7. Vicar of the Church Fr. George Puthenpura said here on Friday that special prayers will be held on the first Saturday of every month. Holy mass and novena will be held as part of the special prayers organised by the St. Mary's Forane Church.

'Policy on Alzheimer's disease soon

KOCHI: The State Government is planning to formulate a policy that would address the issues pertaining to people suffering from old-age diseases and Alzheimer's disease, Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy said after releasing the Alzheimer's centenary souvenir at Kochi on Friday. — Staff Reporter

Viral research centre

KOCHI: The Kerala branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the Government to set up a viral research institute in the State in the wake of the frequent outbreak of epidemics. During such outbreaks, the IMA functionaries said, the State has to rely on viral research centres in Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. As reports on samples sent to these centres would take a lot of time, doctors were forced to offer treatment on the basis of clinical symptoms and signs. Such diagnosis was often speculative, an IMA press release said.
