Amendments: Hegde sore with State

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde on Friday expressed his dissatisfaction over the State Government's inaction in bringing amendments to the Karnataka Lokayukta Act.

Mr. Hegde told presspersons that it was the duty of the State Government to bring in amendments to the Act in order to provide good governance to people. "We did that work and sent a draft to the Chief Minister soon after I took over in August. We are yet to get a reply from the Government," he said. Mr. Hegde said his recent meeting with Governor T.N. Chaturvedi was just a courtesy call.

The Governor discussed many subjects and also appreciated the work of Lokayukta institution, he said.

Inspection

Mr. Hegde said he would order inspection of records with regard to complaints against zilla panchayats and taluk panchayats on misappropriation of funds released by Central and State Government.
