Police inspector shoots himself

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Upparpet Traffic police inspector Krishna Singh (54) on Friday committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with his service revolver at his house in R.T. Nagar police station limits.

The police said that around 9.30 a.m. Singh shot himself in a bedroom at his flat in Soundarya Apartments on 3rd Cross, 3rd Main, Ganganagar.

On hearing the gunshot, his wife and son rushed to the bedroom and found Singh lying in a pool of blood.

They immediately shifted him to a private hospital and he was declared brought dead by doctors, the police said.

Singh, who was on night rounds on Thursday, had returned home around 5.15 a.m. on Friday and had gone to sleep, they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Malini Krishna Murthy said that they were yet to ascertain the reason for the suicide.

"As Singh's family members are in a state of shock and sorrow, we have not been able to question them," she said.
