MANGALORE: Passenger traffic between Mangalore and Bangalore will begin by December 2006, according to district in-charge Minister B. Nagaraj Shetty. Mr. Shetty said here on Saturday that the Railway Safety Directorate had inspected crucial sectors of the line between Mangalore and Sakleshpur and several structures such as retaining walls, wired mesh portions, various cliffs and indentions should be completed before the line was opened up for passenger traffic. He said he had sought opinions from experts in the directorate and found that the sector should be under observation for at least three months after the monsoon.
