Foreign artistes to take part in Jaipur festival

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Folk artistes from Costa Rica and South Korea will participate for the first time in the annual cultural festival, "Lok Rang," of the Jawahar Kala Kendra to be held here from October 7 to 17. Over 500 artistes from various States will also showcase the colourful traditions of their regions in the 11-day event.

The Director-General of Jawahar Kala Kendra, Ashok Shekhar, said here on Saturday that the participation of foreign artistes had been made possible through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. A national handicraft fair will also be organised during the festival. The festival, being organised for the 13th consecutive year, will select special themes for various events and will hold celebrations marking Dussehra and Diwali. Mr. Shekhar said the income generated through the entrance tickets would be contributed to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
