Held on charges of cheating
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
A special team from the Central Crime Branch police arrested R. Hari Babu on Friday on charges of cheating. CCB Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Dharmaraj said Mr. Babu allegedly cheated three businessmen by assuring them that he would obtain loans for them from banks. The businessmen paid commissions to the tune of Rs.50 lakh even before getting any loan.
The first complaint was received from N. Udhayakumar who gave Rs.7.78 lakh to Hari Babu about two years ago. But when the businessman asked for the loan, there was no response. So he filed a complaint with the police.
