Krishnagiri: District Election Officer and Collector Santhosh Babu has asked political parties to remove hoardings, cut outs, banners, wall writings and poll graffiti on Government and private buildings immediately. With the Model Code of Conduct in force, stringent action would be taken against violators. As many as 10 mobile teams have been formed in the district for this purpose. The total number of polling stations in Krishnagiri district is 2,084 including 1,847 in rural areas and 237 in urban areas. The stations have been divided into 118 zones. The total number of sensitive polling stations in the district is 114 including 102 in rural areas, 8 in town panchayats and 4 in Krishnagiri and Hosur municipalities. A total of 6,902 personnel had been appointed for poll duty in Krishnagiri district. Training would be held for Returning and Assistant Returning Officers in the district on October 3, 5 and 7 respectively. In rural areas counting centres have been established at the following places: Government Boys HSS and ITI, Bargur; R.V. Boys HSS, Hosur; Government Boys HSS, Kaveripattinam; Government Boys HSS, Denkanikottai; Government Girls HSS, Krishnagiri; Government Girls HSS, Mathur; GHSS, Shoolagiri; Government HSS, Thally; GHSS, Uthangkarai (2) and Government HSS, Veppanapalli. In urban areas counting centres have been established at following places: Government Polytechnic, Krishnagiri; Regulated Market Committee, Hosur; Government ITI, Mathigiri; Government Arts College, Krishnagiri. Two companies of paramilitary forces would be deployed for security during polling and counting. Addition security would be provided for sensitive polling stations. In addition 72 Home Guards and 1,000 Ex-servicemen would also be involved for polling duty. A control room has been established at the Krishnagiri Collectorate to enable public and members of political parties to lodge their complaints. The control room would function round the clock at (04343) 235 497 Mr. Babu added.
