Council poll fever grips Kurnool

KURNOOL: P.V. Ramanaiah, former president of APNGOs' Association, and other NGO leaders met here on Saturday to discuss the issue of sending their representatives to the revived Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.

Out of 90 seats, eight each are reserved for graduates and teachers. NGO leaders said no separate constituency was created for the NGOs as was available for teachers. They decided to fight from the graduates' constituency by projecting Mr. Ramanaiah as their candidate.

Homage paid to Kotla

He would contest from Anantapur graduates' constituency comprising Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts. The leaders paid homage at the Kisan ghat, memorial of Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy.

Mr. Ramanaiah asked the NGOs' leaders to take initiative to enrol voters, which had already begun on September 29. The enrolment would be on till November 6. NGO leaders Sivanagi Reddy, A. Krishna Reddy, G. Ramakrishna Reddy and others were present.
