NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance Minister A. K. Walia has instructed the State Department of Trade and Taxes to ensure that the Capital's traders are not harassed during the ensuing festival season.
VAT Department
Dr. Walia has also asked the Department of VAT to issue necessary instructions to its field staff to be courteous with the trading community. Furthermore, the inspectors will neither visit nor conduct a raid on any shop without prior permission of the Commissioner. Appealing to all the traders to continue issuing receipts for every sale and transaction, the Finance Minister said: "I hope the traders will concentrate on enriching their business and hence contribute in substantial tax collection. This is helpful in maintaining mutual trust between the Department of Trade and Taxes and traders."
Tax revenue
Revealing that there had been an appreciable increase in the tax revenue in the past few months after the implementation of VAT, the Finance Minister said the revenue was required for constant development of the city.
