JAIPUR: The country's largest midday meal kitchen for a North Indian menu was inaugurated here on Friday by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The kitchen, a contribution of Akshaya Patra Foundation, has gadgets worth Rs.77 lakhs and can prepare 10,000 chappatis and cook lentils and vegetables to go with it in an hour. Ms. Raje went around the kitchen situated in the Mahal Scheme of Jagatpura area here. "I have a dream of making Rajasthan happy and prosperous. Without ensuring proper food and education to children that cannot be achieved," she said. "Each person should not only take care of his own children but also consider whether any child was being deprived of food." Ms. Raje asked the entrepreneurs, traders, employees and the public in Rajasthan to come forward to support the mid-day meal scheme. Sudha Murty, chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, and Rajshree Birla, director of the Aditya Birla Group of Companies, attended the programme. Akshaya Patra Foundation chairperson Madhu Pandit Dasa presided over the function, which was also attended by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, Ashok Sancheti, coordinator of Jaipur Jewellers of New York, and trustees of Akshaya Patra Foundation, Mohandas Pai and Abhay Jain. BJP general secretary Kalraj Misra, the State president of the party, Mahesh Sharma, local MLAs and City Mayor Ashok Parnami were also present.
