DHARWAD: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti has said that he will take steps to identify "schools of excellence" among the business management schools in the State from the next academic year. He was speaking after inaugurating a State-level "Search conference on management education" organised by the Kousali Institute of Management Studies (KIMS) of Karnatak University in association with the Canara Bank School of Management Studies (CBSMS), Bangalore University, here on Saturday. Mr. Horatti asked the Consortium of University-Based Management Schools (CUBS-K) of Karnataka to come out with a proposal to improve and regulate management education in the State. Steps would be taken to improve management education, but managements of private educational institutions should ensure infrastructure needed, he said. Mr. Horatti released a "Management charter for formation of CUBS-K". Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said the attitude towards management education, especially BBA and BBM, had undergone changes over the years. Speaking about the importance of management techniques, Mr. Shettar said unless professionalism in all fields was imbibed, it was difficult for the country to progress. Management skills were needed even in politics if one had to give good governance, he added.
