Offers galore from BSNL

Completion of six years of formation


  • Free calls scheme introduced
  • CellOne users can interchange their schemes without change in number

    VIJAYAWADA: In a big bonanza, the BSNL has unveiled a slew of offers for customers as part of its foundation day celebrations and also to mark successful completion of six years of its formation.

    Touching upon BSNL's progress at a press conference here on Saturday, its General Manager (operations) M. John Chrisostom said that the first and foremost offer being provided to basic phone customers of the city would be an unlimited free calls scheme. A customer should pay Rs. 399 monthly rental and make any number of free calls to other BSNL telephone users within the city. Of this, 75 unit calls would be given free in STD and ISD categories.

    He said that for using unlimited free calls scheme in the entire Andhra Pradesh circle, the customer would have to pay Rs. 599 monthly rental.

    Another scheme would allow the customer to make unlimited free calls to any phone within A.P. Circle from basic phone, provided they paid Rs. 899 monthly rental.

    Mr. Chrisostom pointed out that a new offer was being extended to customers of mobile phone connections. The pre-paid and post-paid users of CellOne could interchange their schemes without facing the problem of changing of numbers.

    Customer base

    Mr. Chrisostom said that in the last six years, the BSNL brought in a lot of development in the district and so far invested Rs. 214 crores here.

    From a customer base of 1.97 lakhs in 2000, it had grown steadily to 2.89 lakhs in 2006.

    On the revenue front, the BSNL made Rs. 137 crores in 2000 while its revenue was put at Rs. 181 crores in 2005-06.
