CHENNAI: Friday's depression over Northwest and adjoining west Central Bay moved westwards and crossed North Andhra Pradesh and South Orissa coast close to Gopalpur around 5.30 p.m. of Friday.

Southwest monsoon has been active over coastal Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at many places over coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 10, Ariyalur and Shirali 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:

Karaikal, Tirukattupalli (Thanjavur dt.), Kumarapalayam and Mangalapuram (both Namakkal dt.) 5 each.

Forecast (valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Rayalaseema.
