ANANTAPUR: Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies N. Raghuveera Reddy said that farmers in 16 districts of the State, for which the Centre had announced a special package a couple of days ago, would get loans irrespective of their land holding status. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Minister explained that the farmers in these districts, which had seen a spate of suicides in a decade, would get loans for three years. All farmers, irrespective of their land holding, including those cultivating lands taken on lease would be given loans as part of the Rs. 82,000-crore package.
The beneficiaries
The special package would cover Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Khammam districts in Telangana, Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa and Chittoor in Rayalaseema and Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam in Coastal Andhra, he stated. Giving details about another package of Rs. 9,650 crores announced by the Centre on Friday for drought-affected districts, the Minister said Rs. 1,436 crores would given as interest rebate on crop loans and other agriculture loans, Rs. 640 cr. for development of drip and sprinkler irrigation, Rs. 960 cr. for watershed, Rs. 47 cr. for seed transfer, Rs. 8 cr. for PM Relief Fund and Rs. 8 cr. for agriculture extension activities.
