NIZAMABAD: Following heavy rain in the upper reaches in Maharashtra and Karnataka, over 25,000 cusecs of water is being discharged from the Singur reservoir in Medak district to the Nizam Sagar project. However, it will take one or two days to reach Nizam Sagar. The project right now is receiving an inflow of 2,000 cusecs and has 13 tmcf of water as against its total capacity of 17.80 tmcf at the full reservoir level at 1,405 ft, according to project Executive Engineer C. Manohar. Given the amount of discharges from the Singur, the water level in Nizam Sagar is likely to touch the full reservoir level in next couple of days. There was no such huge amount of discharges from the Singur to Nizam Sagar in the last six to seven years.
