UPA-Left coordination panel to meet on October 4

NEW DELHI: The United Progressive Alliance-Left parties coordination committee meeting is to be held on October 4, after the return of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from South Africa, Left party sources said on Saturday.

At the meeting, the Congress-led coalition government is expected to give its detailed response to the exhaustive note submitted by the Left parties on the completion of two years of the Government.

Violations from CMP

The Left parties had identified areas in which it felt that the Government has lagged behind in implementing the National Common Minimum Programme. It also highlighted the aspects where the Government needs to give greater thrust so that the promises made in the CMP were fulfilled.

Stance on SEZ issue

In addition, the Left parties are likely to make its stand known on creation of Special Economic Zones that has become controversial, Left parties sources said.
