GULBARGA: Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, has been adjudged the best college of the year 2005-06 by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology at the 29th State-level Student Projects Programme (Engineering), which concluded at Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering here on Saturday. Minister for Science and Technology Ramachandra Gowda gave away the prize to the principal and students of the college. It is the sixth time that the institute has won the prize. The students of the institute also dominated the show by winning a majority of prizes at the exhibition. Following is the list of award-winners in different categories: Projects of year: `Smart wheel chain,' K.V.G. College of Engineering Sullia; `Make your car just as far as your mobile,' P.A. College of Engineering, Mangalore; `Development of eri-silk products and study of their properties,' Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere; `Ergonomics consideration in design and development of farm sprayers,' P.D.A. College of Engineering, Gulbarga; `Wireless telemetry,' Basavakalyan Engineering College, Basavakalyan, Bidar district; and `Classification of soyabean seeds by colour image analysis,' B.V.B. College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli. The special prize instituted by Prof. Basavaraj went to `Tri-Whillla-H,' N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, NITTE.
