HYDERABAD: Major Irrigation Minister P. Lakshmaiah has refuted the charges made against him in the editorial of a Telugu daily and by the Telugu Desam and said "time alone will reveal the truth". At a press conference here on Friday, the Minister said that his two sons, both majors settled in the US, had purchased 16.7 acres of land near Hyderabad with their hard-earned money in 2000 when the Outer Ring Road project was not known. He said they had sold away these lands at Rs. 5.9 lakhs per acre in October 2005, two months before the notification was issued for acquisition of lands for the project. He said the project alignment had gone close to the lands after their disposal, but his family did not get any benefit out of the upvaluation of the lands. Referring to the Telugu Desam's demand for cancellation of the sale of these lands, he said: "I will be most happy if the deal is cancelled. His family gets the upvaluation benefit."
