Coimbatore: The City Police have announced changes in the traffic diversions introduced on Avanashi Road recently, based on requests from various associations. In view of the construction of a rail overbridge at Ondipudur on Trichy Road, traffic was heavy on Avanashi Road. As a result, the police announced changes in the traffic pattern. Now, based on feedback from the public, changes are being made in the diversion. A release from the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city, Karan Singha, said that heavy vehicles entering the Avanashi Road from Singanallur on the Kamarajar Road stretch would have to proceed towards the city and take a U turn near Anna Nagar. Light Motor Vehicles on Kamarajar Road can proceed towards the city and take a `U turn' at the Vilankurichi Junction. Vehicles from city proceeding towards East will not be allowed to take a U turn at Vilankurichi Junction. Instead they would have to take the Masakkalipalayam Road to reach Trichy Road. Right and left turns on Avanashi Road from Vilankurichi Road will be permitted. Similarly, vehicles from Masakkalipalayam Road and Anna Nagar entering the Avanashi Road can take left and right turns.
