Jail-term for official

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance court on Saturday sentenced a senior official of the Agriculture Department to one-year simple imprisonment after he was found guilty of misappropriating Government funds. Vigilance Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge K. Sasidharan Nair found deputy director, Rajappan Asari, guilty of misappropriating Rs 1.44 lakh for a period of 84 days.

Rape charge

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have registered a case of rape on the basis of a complaint filed by a 35-year-old woman from Kadackavoor. The complainant told the police that she was abducted from her house and raped by four men on Kadackavoor beach. The woman was subjected to medical examination at SAT Hospital here. — Staff Reporter
