Bangalore: For this 12-year-old, life has almost come to a standstill. Sheila (not her real name) is battling for life at St. John's Medical College Hospital here. She needs a major reconstruction surgery. Sheila was found with extensive injuries to her pelvic region, near the city railway station by social workers of Divya Shanthi Trust. According to examinations done at Lakeside Hospital and St. John's Medical College Hospital, the wall dividing the vagina and the rectum has been torn and bowel movements are causing her great pain. She has already undergone a surgery St. John's Hospital. Sheila is undergoing counselling at the Paediatric-Psychiatry Surgical ward of the hospital as she is too traumatised to even talk properly.
Surgery
According to representatives of the Divya Shanthi Trust, the reconstruction surgery will cost Rs. 40,000. "We do not have funds. But we do not want to turn away from this responsibility because of lack of finance," members of the trust said.
