Two held for theft

NEW DELHI: Two persons allegedly involved in stealing goods from containers have been arrested by the South Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered 40 expensive colour television sets and 28 buckets of ink from them.

The police said Israj and Sanjay Dev were arrested at Taimur Nagar in South Delhi on Friday. "The stolen goods were recovered from their houses."

Drugged and looted

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old Nepalese domestic help allegedly drugged three members of a family and decamped with valuables kept in their house at Civil Lines.

Siddharth Chaddha, his wife Radha and mother-in-law Pushpa were admitted to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital on Saturday morning. In their statement, they told the police that they fell unconscious soon after they had tea served by their maidservant.

Fire in factory

NEW DELHI: Fire broke out in a garment factory in the Patparganj Industrial Area of East Delhi on Saturday evening. While the fire-fighting operation was going on till late at night, there were no reports of any injuries.

According to a Fire Department spokesperson, information about the blaze was received at 9-50 p.m. At least 25 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames in the factory. Annual Brahmotsavam

NEW DELHI: The 12-day-long annual Brahmotsavam is being held with traditional fervour and devotion to Lord Venkateswara at Sri Venkateswara Mandir in Sector-3 of Ramakrishnapuram here.

On Sunday, the Lord will be taken out on a "rath" (chariot) after "purnahuti" (the final offering), while on Monday the Lord in his incarnation as Ladu Gopal would be taken out in a doli. In the evening, the Lord would be taken out on a horse. The festival is referred to as Brahmotsavam as the four-faced Lord Brahma is believed to be conducting the Utsavam.
