Karunakaran: bid to put Antony in the dock

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) leader K. Karunakaran has alleged that certain Congress leaders are trying to put former Chief Minister A.K. Antony in the dock by highlighting the controversy regarding the intelligence report referred to in the Marad Judicial Commission report.

Mr. Antony had deposed before the commission that the contentious intelligence report did not come to his notice.

"Some of Mr. Antony's party leaders were highlighting this as part of an attempt to put him in the dock," Mr. Karunakaran observed while inaugurating his party's Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations here on Monday.

Mr. Karunakaran said the Marad incident was a severe blow to secular life in the State and that his party would welcome any impartial inquiry.

The DIC(K) was committed to bringing all secular democratic forces to one platform in the traditions of the Indira Congress' uncompromising fight against extremism and naxalism, he said.
