SEEKING SUPPORT: CPI (M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat with Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi at his residence on Monday.
CHENNAI : Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau Member Brinda Karat called on Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at his residence on Monday and sought his support for the early passage of the Scheduled Tribes (Recognition of Forest Rights Bill, 2005).
Rights of tribals
Ms. Karat wanted the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to back the recommendations made by a Joint Parliamentary Committee to enable tribals to have rights in the forests.
