Walker fatally hit by jeep

CHENNAI : A 55-year-old man was killed in a road mishap here on Monday.

The police said when he was taking a morning walk along a pavement around 5.30 a.m. near Sterling Road, a speeding jeep dashed against him and he died on the spot.

As the vehicle toppled, the driver was injured. The police identified the victim as K. Venugopal of Halls Road at Egmore. Driver Anthony Raj (35) of Gopalapuram, who is undergoing treatment, has been arrested. The T. Nagar police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.
