Rupee shoots up against $

MUMBAI: The rupee on Tuesday shot up to more than three-month-high against the U.S. dollar and closed at 45.74/76 a dollar, a level not seen after May 24 due to heavy dollar sales after fall in crude oil prices.

In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed firm at 45.86/87 against the previous weekend close of 45.92/93 and rose further to close at 45.74/76, sharply higher than the previous close. To some extent, weak dollar against its major counterparts also boosted rupee sentiment. — PTI
