NIZAMABAD : `The Indian Beauty', a film produced in both Telugu and English by non-resident Indians (NRIs) hailing from Nizamabad is all set for release across the world on October 13. The movie produced and directed by Chilumula Shanti Kumar, a software engineer, has been shot in Ramoji Film City and at the Taj Mahal in Agra. The audiocassette of the film was released on September 23. Based on Indian culture and tradition, the film has newcomers Shaila Rao and an American, Colvin Mc Gee in the lead roles. Tanikella Bharani, Brahmanandam and Jayalalitha also figure in the cast. Photography is by Suresh Rohan and music by Joy Colvin. Giving details of the film at a press conference here on Monday, Shanti Kumar of the `Atu America and Itu India' fame said a majority of the actors in the film were from Nizamabad. Noted stage artistes from the district Ramulu, Chandra Prakash, Raghu and G.V. Rao play major roles.
`Not an art film'
The film also had commercial elements and was not an art film, Shanti Kumar said. The film depicts certain cultural and ethnic problems faced by Indians settled in America and also highlights rich culture and traditions of India. Shanti Kumar, who won the Nandi award for his earlier film, is confident of the success of `The Indian Beauty'.
