HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party has charged Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy with going against the Centre's policy of confining land acquisition for various projects to wastelands only. Briefing presspersons about the Polit Bureau meeting on Tuesday evening, party leaders K. Yerran Naidu and K. Srihari said against the directive given by AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Dr. Reddy's Government was allotting farm land where two crops were raised, to industrialists. There was no transparency and accountability in these allotments and invariably ruling party supporters were favoured, they said. Norms were being thrown to wind as seen in the allotment of Gandhi Hospital and LIDCAP lands in Hyderabad. The Polit Bureau decided to take land and other issues to the people, making the campaign district-specific. These include, corruption, bias in selection of beneficiaries in model villages programme, price rise, Outer Ring Road alignment, rehabilitation and resettlement of project affected people and special economic zones. The party would stand by people and carry on a struggle even making senior leaders camp in the districts. They said a decision had been taken to constitute a committee to monitor the voters' enrolment process for the coming Legislative Council elections. To a question, they said there was no decision on the candidates for Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha byelections, as there was no sign of Election Commission notification yet.
