THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has decided to provide water from the Neyyar Dam in Thiruvananthapuram district to Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, in a letter to his Tamil Nadu counterpart M. Karunanidhi, said on Tuesday that the Kerala Government was making the gesture in order to create a climate conducive to the holding of talks on river water disputes with Tamil Nadu. Mr. Karunanidhi had sought water from the Neyyar during the talks with Mr. Achuthanandan in Chennai on June 10. It was following Kerala's demand for sharing water from the Parambikulam-Aliyar project that Tamil Nadu sought water from the Neyyar. Mr. Achuthanandan said the decision had been taken on the basis of that demand. The Chief Minister also expressed his willingness for a dialogue on inter-state river water disputes including Mullaperiyar and Parambikulam-Aliyar in the light of the Supreme Court's suggestion.
