3,500 acres to be given to landless poor in Guntur

GUNTUR: The Guntur district administration has identified 3,500 acres of land for distribution among the landless poor on November 1, the State Formation Day, during the third phase of the State-wide programme.

District Revenue Office B. Lakhmikantham on Tuesday held meeting with all the three Revenue Divisional Officers and Mandal Revenue officers to discuss the modalities for preparing the list of beneficiaries and exact extent of land. The final check on encumbrances, legal disputes, and genuinely of beneficiaries would be carried out in the next one week.

Review Indiramma

The special officers for every mandal must monitor construction of houses under the Indiramma programme so that progress of works remains closer to target, District Collector G. Jayalakshmi told officials on Tuesday.

She reviewed the progress of housing activity in Gamalapadu and Pondugala villages of Dachepalli mandal. Village-level committees had been formed to improve awareness on the housing and various stages of construction, which would coordinate with officials to ensure quick progress, she said.

To meet the deadline, officials must try to remove all hurdles in the construction and liaise with banks to ensure quick sanction of funds. She asked the special officers to get the photographs of all the beneficiaries taken immediately.
