Staff Reporter

Trouble began with the refusal of a CPI worker to accept Jambi leaves on the occasion of Vijayadasami

Sangareddy: The traditional exchange of Jambi leaves on the occasion of Vijayadasami turned violent in Konyala village of Hathnoora mandal as it led to clashes between the CPI and Congress workers.

The trouble started when a CPI party worker refused to accept the offer from a Congress functionary on Monday night and allegedly abused him.

The situation turned out of hand when rumours spread that a women belonging to the CPI was manhandled by Congress workers.

Eight CPI party workers allegedly beat up three Congress workers, who were later admitted to Narsapur hospital with severe head injures. They attacked two more Congress workers in the village, which was captured on camera by Karunakar, a videographer for the local C-Channel. They beat the cameraman and took away the tape. When local journalists protested, the police initiated action against the culprits.
