Circle-Inspector held on gambling charge

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a raid on a private hotel near Rama Talkies on Tuesday, Elia Sagar, Circle-Inspector of Police Control Room, was arrested on the charge indulging in gambling, according to the police.

Nine others, including officials from reputed firms and lecturers, were arrested along with him. A sum of Rs. 42,000 was seized.

Duped

B. Vasundhara Devi, a resident of Sagarnagar, was duped at Poorna Maket on September 27.

According to the police, she went to the market along with her husband, Perraju, and daughter-in-law, Satyasri, to purchase vegetables. While Perraju and Satyasri went inside, she was sitting in the car. A person approached her and said that cash had fallen from purse. Thinking that it might have fallen from her husband's purse she got down leaving behind her and Satyasri's hand bags in the car that had its windows downed. She returned only to find the bags missing.
