HYDERABAD: Over 2.6 lakh rare manuscripts identified by the officials of the Oriental Manuscripts Library in Osmania University are set to be conserved with the National Manuscripts Mission (NMM) deciding to set up a core group of researchers familiar with the finer nuances of conservation. Recently, the Oriental Manuscripts Library had completed a thorough identification process of old manuscripts in various parts of the State. However, officials point out that till now nobody knows the exact significance of these identified manuscripts and the team of researchers will be taking up this work too. During the course of investigations, officials of the library came across a historical document that provides 300 years of documentary evidence of lives and times of people in Darsi village of Prakasam district. "We have already formed teams that will visit the districts to take up conservation. We are hoping that in another fortnight we might be able to ground the project after we receive funding from the National Manuscripts Mission," Director of OML Jayadhir Tirumala Rao said.
