European Parliament team on study tour

Focus on poverty alleviation programmes, IT and biotechnology

HYDERABAD: President of the European Parliament Josep Borrel Fontelles recalled the message of the Mahatma and said the ideals spread by the apostle of peace were relevant to the entire world.

Leading an eight-member delegation, Mr. Fontelles called on Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy at his chambers in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday evening. They were given a tour of the imposing confines of the Assembly building.

Briefing presspersons later, Mr. Suresh Reddy said the delegation had come to the State with specific intent to look at the strides made on the Information Technology and Bio-Technology front. Also, they expressed interest in knowing about the poverty alleviation programmes and the role of public representatives .

Earlier, the delegation met Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp residence.
