NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001: 2000 certificate for devising and implementing a highly transparent and advanced system of recruitment by the Armed Police Recruitment Cell. The Certificate was presented to Police Commissioner K.K. Paul by Standardisation, Testing and Quality Certification (Ministry of IT) CEO Awdhesh Mathur in the presence of Lieutenant-Governor B.L. Joshi on Tuesday at New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp. Joint Commissioner of Police (Armed Police) Deepak Mishra said the recruitment process for 2,000 male constables that was carried out in 2005 involved putting in place several innovative measures. These included setting up of helpline counters while distributing application forms. The physical endurance and measurement test (PEMT) was completely video-graphed to eliminate any element of subjectivity. The composition of all the interview boards was also changed at the last minute to maintain secrecy and prevent anybody from trying to influence the board before the interview. The written examination was also video-graphed in entirety, said the Joint Commissioner.
