Bharti surrenders CDMA spectrum in MP

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has surrendered its CDMA spectrum in Madhya Pradesh to the Department of Telecommunications. Bharti Airtel had received the CDMA spectrum as part of the licensing agreement in 1997, to offer services as applicable under the licence. But now after receiving the "unified access service licence" (UASL), it has migrated all its 20,000-odd CDMA subscribers to the GSM technology without imposing any financial burden on them.
