KARIMNAGAR: APSRTC Chairman Gone Prakash Rao has asked TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao to clarify about non-fulfilment of his poll promises made during the 2001 elections to local bodies before taking up his ambitious `palle baata' programme in Telangana region. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he challenged the TRS president to explain on his failures to implement GO 610 when in power at the State and Centre, execution of comprehensive drinking water scheme in KCR's Karimnagar Parliament constituency, railway from Karimnagar to Patencheru via Vemulawada temple town, etc. The RTC Chairman expressed hope that the management would be able to pacify the RTC employees by holding several rounds of talks and avert the strike. He said that the RTC unions were demanding 18 per cent hike in wages, but the management had agreed to an increase by 5 per cent. He said that the RTC was still running in losses. Presently, it has debts to the tune of Rs. 1,100 crores and the loss till September end this year was between Rs. 5 to 7 crores, he added. "Our doors are open for negotiations. I am confident that we would solve the issue amicably and avoid a strike by the employees and loss to the corporation,'' he maintained. Andhra Pradesh Markfed Chairman P. Prabhakar, Andhra Pradesh Minimum Wages board member, Babar Saleem Pasha and others were present.
