Washington: The Bush administration has said it is ``hopeful'' that the U.S. Senate will take up the legislation on India-U.S. nuclear deal when it returns for the Lame Duck Session and stressed that it would not tell the legislative body how to go about the bill. It also said the deal was an important agreement that was not only good for the U.S. and India but also for the ``broader'' international community. ``I will try and avoid trying to tell the Senate how it should proceed. Obviously, it is up to members of the Senate and leadership to determine when to bring matters to the floor,'' U.S. State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said at The Washington Foreign Press Centre.
