St. Joseph's triumphs

KOTTAYAM: Trailing 15-18 at the break, St. Joseph's HSS, Pullinkunnam rebounded well to score an exciting 56-53 win over St. Joseph's HSS, Thiruvananthapuram and lift the boys title in the third Lourdean all-Kerala inter-school basketball tournament here late on Tuesday night.

The results:

Boys (final): St. Joseph's, Pulinkunnam 56 (Ashin Xavier 28, Kevin Varghese 19) bt St. Joseph's, Thiruvananthapuram 53 (Jijo Thankachan 20, Sanil Antony 18).

Tomy, Aswin sparkle

Tomy Alexander's 75 and leg-spinner Aswin Sharma's match haul of 11 wickets helped South Zone beat Central by 117 runs in the Kerala State under-15 inter-zone cricket championship at the St. Paul's College Ground, Kalamassery, on Wednesday.

The scores:

South 188 & 202 in 66.1 overs (Tomy Alexander 75, Navaneeth K. Jose 27, Manu Dev five for 22) v Central 150 & 123 in 44.5 overs (Manu Dev 46, Aswin Sharma six for 22, Vishnu K. Jain three for 37).
