Ratnika Batra upsets Neha

NEW DELHI: Ratnika Batra upset top seed Neha Rana in the semifinals of the U-18 girls' section of the AITA Championship series junior tennis tournament at the Punjabi Bagh Club here on Wednesday.

The results (semifinals):

Boys: U-18: Akshay Kohli bt Palash Tiwari 4-6, 6-3, 6-4; Nikunj Siwach bt Lakshit Sood 6-2, 6-2. U-14: Karan Chaudhary bt Surya Pavan 7-5 6-4; Rohit Bisht bt Shikhar Kapoor 6-1, 6-2.

Girls: U-18: Ratnika Batra bt Neha Rana 6-1, 6-0; Nova Patel bt Abhilasha Ahuja 6-2, 6-1.

Vikram shines

Vikram scored 19 points as last year's runner-up Montfort School defeated Springdales School 44-21 in the boys' section of the Hans Raj Prabhakar memorial basketball meet here on Wednesday.

The results: Boys: Montfort 44 (Vikram 19) bt Springdales 21 (Rohan 10); St. Columba's 45 (Siddharth 20, Adrean 10) bt Father Agnel 43 (Karan 10).

Girls: Montfort 52 (Chinmayee 20, Prachi 14) bt Oxford 28 (Vasundhara Prabhakar 15); Sachdeva PS, Pitam Pura 33 (Aditi 14, Niharika 8) bt Bal Bharti PS, Pitam Pura 13.
