MAHABUBNAGAR: The drive to eliminate child labour and to admit them in schools should be completed by month-end, said district Collector V. Usha Rani. Addressing the district-level coordination and convergence committee meeting of Sarva Shiksha Abiyan here on Tuesday, the Collector said that last year some 39,000 children in the district were identified as out of school and as working children, with the joint efforts put in by officials and NGO's. Over 26,000 children were picked up from various establishments and admitted into schools, leaving only 12,500 children out of school. She directed the project director of the National Child Labour Project to provide computerised list of the mandal and village wise - out of school children to the members of the committee. The Collector also directed the mandal-level joint enforcement teams to raid various establishments where children are working. Ms. Rani said that out of the 64 mandals in the district, Veldanda and Manganur have no child labour.
