Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Poonamallee and Gopalapuram on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Workshop

Contest

Medical camp

Eye camp

Lions Club of Madras Metro West will organise an eye screening camp on October 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pamban Swamy temple on Kalakshetra Road in Tiruvanmiyur. Doctors from Udhi Eye Hospital will screen the patients. Those, who require cataract operation, will also be operated on subsequently.

Cancer detection

V.S. Hospital, in association with Intas Pharmaceutical, will organise a month-long breast cancer detection camp, particularly for women above 40. Women can get a comprehensive breast examination done at V.S. Hospital, 13, East Spurtank Road in Chetpet, for Rs. 200. They will also find out more about breast cancer and how to prevent it. Deadline extended

The last date for issue and receipt of filled-in applications for admission to all courses offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, for 2006-07 has been extended to October 31.
